Australia New Motor Vehicle Sales Rise 4.7% In September
The total number of new motor vehicle sales in Australia was up a seasonally adjusted 4.7 percent on month in September, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said on Monday, standing at 98,701. That follows the 3.6 percent increase in August.
On a yearly basis, new motor vehicle sales spiked 14.4 percent after climbing 6.4 percent in the previous month.
In seasonally adjusted terms, all eight states and territories saw a monthly increase. Tasmania recorded the largest percentage increase (23.4 percent), followed by Victoria (7.0 percent) and Western Australia (4.8 percent).
Sales of passenger, sports utility vehicles and other vehicles increased by 6.5 percent, 4.2 percent and 1.1 percent, respectively.
