Australia New Car Sales Fall 0.6% In June
The total number of new motor vehicle sales in Australia was down a seasonally adjusted 0.6 percent on month in June, the Australia Bureau of Statistics said on Tuesday, standing at 91,375.
By type, sales of passenger vehicles decreased 0.7 percent on month, while sports utility vehicles increased 0.6 percent and other vehicles decreased 1.9 percent.
By region, the Australian Capital Territory recorded the largest percentage increase, with 7.2 percent, followed by South Australia (3.4 percent) and Tasmania (2.8 percent). Sales in the Northern Territory and Queensland both decreased 3.4 percent over the same period.
On a yearly basis, new motor vehicle sales jumped 18.4 percent - slowing from the 22.4 percent annual surge in May.
