Turkey September Capacity Utilization Drops, Business Sentiment Weakens
Capacity utilization in the Turkish manufacturing sector declined for the second consecutive month in September, data released by the central bank showed Monday.
The capacity utilization rate, on an unadjusted basis, dropped to 74 in September from 74.3 in August and 74.8 in July.
The capacity utilization rate in the consumer goods sector rose to 73.4 percent during the month from 72.5 percent, while it dropped to 76.1 percent in the intermediate goods industry from 76.5 percent in July.
The relevant figure for the investment goods industry was 70.4 percent in September, down from 72.5 percent in the previous month, data showed.
Separately, the central bank said Turkey's business confidence continued to deteriorate in September.
The corresponding business confidence indicator fell to 103.1 in September from 104.5 in August, marking the fifth consecutive monthly deterioration. The sub-indicator that measures the general business situation, however, moved up to 99.3 from 98.6.
