Germany September Inflation Weakens As Expected


Germany's EU harmonized inflation slowed in September as expected by economists, preliminary data from the Federal Statistical Office showed Wednesday.
The EU measure of inflation, as per the harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP), decelerated to 2.1 percent in September from 2.2 percent in August. The latest figure matched economists' expectations.
On a monthly basis, the HICP remained unchanged in September, which was in line with economists' forecast. In August, harmonized consumer priced had moved up 0.4 percent sequentially.
At the same time, inflation as per the consumer price index slowed to 2 percent in September from 2.1 percent in August, as expected.
Month-on-month, consumer prices remained flat as expected by economists, after rising 0.4 percent in August, data showed.
