Swiss September Consumer Prices Fall Less Than Expected
Switzerland's consumer prices for September declined at a less-than-expected pace from a year ago, while rose on a monthly basis for the first time in four months, data from the statistical office showed Monday.
The consumer price index (CPI) fell 0.4 percent annually, following a 0.5 percent decline in August. Economists had forecast a 0.6 percent drop. Prices decreased for the twelfth consecutive month and the latest decline was the smallest since October last year.
Month-on-month, the CPI rose 0.3 percent in September, after remaining flat in the previous month. Economists were looking for a 0.1 percent increase. The latest increase was the biggest since April.
