| U.K. Retail Sales Fall Less Than Expected U.K. retail sales, including auto fuel, fell 0.2 percent month-on-month in August, data from the Office for National Statistics showed Thursday. Economists had forecast a 0.3 percent drop following a 0.3 percent rise in July. Annually, sales volume advanced 2.7 percent, but was weaker than the expected 2.9 percent increase. Excluding automotive fuel, sales volume fell 0.3 percent on a monthly basis in line with expectations. The annual rate of growth in sales, excluding auto fuel, accelerated to 3.1 percent from 2.8 percent in the previous month. This was, however, a tad below the 3.2 percent growth expected by economists.   | |
