Spain's Leading Index Falls For Second Month
Spain's leading economic index dropped for the second straight month in August suggesting that the current contraction in the economy will continue and could even worsen in the near term, the Conference Board said Tuesday.
The leading index has been on a downtrend since February 2011, though its rate of decline has slowed over the past three months, the board said.
The corresponding index slipped 0.1 percent in August after easing 0.5 percent in July and rising 0.3 percent in June. At the same time, the coincident index rose 0.1 percent, offsetting July's 0.1 percent fall.
