China Central Bank Makes Record Weekly Cash Injection
The People's Bank of China injected a record CNY 365 billion into money markets this week, data from the central bank revealed Thursday.
The central bank conducted another CNY 180 billion in reverse repo transactions on Thursday morning after a record CNY 290 billion injection on Tuesday. The cash injection was intended to meet rising demand at the quarter-end.
This resulted in a net injection of CNY 365 billion with CNY 105 billion maturing this week. This was higher than CNY 353 billion injected ahead of the lunar New Year holiday in January.
