Research: Uk Inflation Still Looks on Course to fall Below the Target of 2%
-The rate of UK CPI inflation fell from 4.2% to 3.6% as the market expected. The biggest contributor to the fall was transport (mainly fuel prices) but the effect from the 2.5pp VAT hike last January was also powerful and should continue next month. Inflation still looks on course to fall below the target of 2% in Q4. RPI inflation fell even more from 4.8% yoy to 3.9%.
