Eurozone Jobless Rate Steady At 10.4% In December
The unemployment rate in the euro area remained unchanged in December, data released by Eurostat showed Tuesday.
The seasonally adjusted jobless rate was 10.4 percent, the same as in November. Economists expected the rate to rise to 10.4 percent from November's originally reported rate of 10.3 percent.
Compared with November, the number of persons unemployed increased by 20,000 to 16.469 million in the euro area. Compared with December 2010, unemployment rose by 751,000.
The highest unemployment rate was recorded by Spain, 22.9 percent in December. Greece posted a jobless rate of 19.2 percent.
